Finally back to it!

Finally made it out to walk again. It’s been raining here every day almost, so doesn’t leave much room for walking. I will walk in sprinkles, but the rain has been pretty hard and I don’t want to end up sick so had to walk inside some and do my Wii. It’s not as good for training purposes, but is better than doing absolutely nothing exercise wise.

I walked 2.7 miles today in 58 minutes for a 21.48-minute mile. Not fast by any standards, but I was just happy to be able to do it. Along with the rain, I’ve been in a lot of pain. My right knee hurt today. Toward the end of the walk I was limping a little but I made it back around to the house. The arthritis is worse in my right knee, but my left has torn cartilage. It’s fun being me…lol.

Anyway, I’m still bound and determined to do my half marathon in March. I hope to get back to regular training now and be able to stick with it.

Please donate to St. Jude if you can. Every little bit helps. Each dollar adds up to help the kids!

Back to Walking!

Well, I finally made it out to walk again. I’ve been going through a terrible fibromyalgia flare. It lasted for 12 days total, with some worse than others, but all bad! I’m so glad it’s finally over. I just hope I don’t have another one any time soon.

I walked at the park today for 1.34 miles in 30 minutes. That makes a 22.38-minute mile, which is very slow, but I was just happy to be back out there. I hope to do another walk tomorrow. I would skip a day but rain is coming in so want to go ahead and get another one in this week at least.

Please donate to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital if you can. This time of year, it is really a blessing to be able to help a child in need. No matter how small the donation, it will be appreciated.

Slow Walk Day

I did 2.16 miles today in an hour. That’s a 27.77-minute mile. Very slow, but I’m not disappointed. I’ve been in a flare ever since my walk/run Saturday. Spent a lot of the last few days laid up on the couch, so to be able to get out and walk was wonderful!

I am glad the half marathon doesn’t have a time limit. If I can’t make the 3.5 hours that “normal” half marathoners do, it’s ok with me. I’m doing this to raise funds for St. Jude and to prove to myself I can. Time limits aren’t the main point.

I’ll be back out there Thursday walking again. Have to do a longer walk if I’m not able to run again yet to keep on schedule with the training. I’ll make it though!

Snickers Half Marathon

Well, I finally picked my next walking event. This one is a half marathon, which I’ve wanted to do all along. I’ve been in training for the last week for the event. I did a couple of walks a little over two miles during the week and walked for 3.78 miles today. I am incorporated a little running into the mix now, which is exciting. Now I just have to stay healthy and not fall down so I can keep it up!

Today was a rough walk. My shoulders hurt the entire time and my right knee gave me some trouble. I just kept going though because I know without the training, I will not be able to do the walk. I am going to do whatever I can to make this walk possible!

I believe in St. Jude so much and want to help them in any way I can. Donations have stopped, probably because of the holidays, but I’m not giving up. I will keep updating the blog, keep training, and hope people are able to give soon.

We can all help the children of St. Jude. Every donation helps, even a dollar! Don’t ever think you shouldn’t donate because the amount is too small. Give what you can and know in your heart it is appreciated.

Getting Better!

I did a few more 30-minute walks this past week and today my husband and I did some hiking. We hiked for 2 hours but it was broken up with lunch in between. I’m glad to say I had no ovary/pelvic pain. My knee did hurt pretty bad though. I have arthritis is both knees, and when I don’t do as much hiking, one or both of them hurts the first few times back.

Even with the knee pain, we really enjoyed the hike. I’m glad to be able to do more walking now and get back to longer training walks. I hope to participate in a lot more walks for charity to help the kids of St. Jude and to improve my overall health. Please check out the donation page and give if possible. The children will be grateful!

30-min Walk

I walked for 30 minutes today. This is the first day I’ve felt like walking longer. I did 1.48 miles in the 30 minutes for a 20.27. That’s not too bad for still recuperating. I plan to do some kind of exercise five days a week. Most of it will be walking once I’m completely healed. I think I should be back to normal by next week. I’ll start looking for my next walk for St. Jude soon.

Still Recovering

I’ve been doing some small walks this past week. Still have some pain. Evidently, it’s going to take me the whole two weeks to get better. I figured it would. I don’t know if it’s the fibromyalgia, autoimmune condition or diabetes, but for some reason it takes me forever to get over any health problems!

I am not going to be able to do the St. Jude walk on November 8th. I just haven’t been able to do enough training and can’t walk long enough stretches to do it. I will pick another walk on a future date soon to train for.

Please don’t let this stop you from donating! The kids can still use all the donations they can get and I WILL be doing another walking event!
